Nowadays the local (as opposed to online) copies of example code seem to be in /Developer/Documentation/DocSets/com.apple.adc.documentation.AppleSnowLeopard.CoreReference.docset/Contents/Resources/Documents/samplecode.  Putting them inside the docset enables the nice UI to search them (Xcode -> Documentation -> Home -> "Mac OS X 10.6 Core Library" -> "Sample Code").  I'm using Xcode 3.2.3.

I see a couple of examples, like TextEdit, are still in /Developer/Examples, maybe because they're frequently looked for.
