Thanks for the clarification, Chris. One comment: ebbing....well, only because it has maybe been breaking over time. In terms of "as an aid in development" the feature remains, IMO, just as useful as ever.

Ok. To put put my vote in for renewed attention to fix & continue, I'll file a bug report. If all of us who need this feature do so, maybe Apple will be able to give it some renewed t.l.c.
One more thing:
"F&C generally only works for applications" -> Applications is what a great many of us work on much of the time.
"and only for specific kinds of changes" -> To me, exactly the kinds of changes where the quick turnaround testing that F&C offers can save a huge amount of time. Having it available on iPhone and on garbage collected Mac OS projects would be 'seriously convenient'. :-) (So I'll list that in my bug report.)
