Link error compiling ppc code

I'm getting this warning when compiling a universal binary containing ppc code:
"ld: warning: object file compiled with -mlong-branch which is no longer needed. To remove this warning, recompile without -mlong-branch: /Developer/usr/bin/../lib/gcc/powerpc-apple-darwin10/4.0.1/crt3.o"

I found a few links about this error with respect to crt1.o with a solution of recompiling the file from Tiger sources, but I'd rather not alter my installation, if possible. Is it possible to fix this w/o recompiling?
I know I can safely ignore this warning, but I'd rather fix than ignore.
Thx
