If you really think that's the cause, perhaps try turning off auto complete and Fix-It and other stuff that happens automatically as you type, and see whether that makes a difference... I have certainly been happier since I turned off Fix-It, and I have never liked autocomplete-as-you-type (I like to summon it by a keyboard shortcut when I want it).
