The Xcode team should address this when they address the (already reported) problems with text being illegible in highlighted lines. The editor applies syntax-specific coloring to lines even when they're highlighted, which is destined to fail. All text on a highlighted line needs to be a single color that's inverted (in terms of brightness) the highlight itself.
