My product is a standalone shared framework, which I use in several of my applications and sell to other developers as an independent product.
When I use Xcode 4.1 to archive one of my applications that uses the framework, the application archive correctly appears in the Archives pane of the Organizer, and I can easily use the buttons/popups in the Organizer to get at it.
However, when I close the application project/workspace, and build and archive the framework alone in its own separate project/workspace, it doesn't show up anywhere. It appears to build correctly, but it never shows up in the Archive pane of the Organizer, and it is nowhere to be found in the DerivedData folder. It does show up in the Archives folder, but it contains zero bytes.
Googling turns up a few inquiries describing the same problem, but no solutions. For example, a user of Omni Group's Frameworks recently asked them how to deal with this problem, but Omni Group said they were still using Xcode 3 and didn't have an answer.
Any ideas? Is this an early hint that Apple will soon stop supporting standalone shared frameworks written by third-party developers? (I know, I'm getting a little paranoid.)
