yeah, i tried my best to try all the permutations but it looks like i'll need to adjust instead.  just a little surprised that a more conventional setup isn't possible (or at least a remapping of the keys/modifiers for the three navigation options).  don't want to armchair quarterback but i bet there's more slick new choices to put in those menus that may be easy to implement given the machinery that already all in there.  i'll probably file a radar on it next time i click and miss one of the mod keys with my finders causing the active pane to navigate (instead the the assistant) and interrupt my flow.  :)
