"Assistant" has stopped showing counterparts. Why?

Hi all.
When I activate the "Assistant" pane in the editor, it now shows a
random file from my project instead of the counterpart to the current
file as it used to. I can find no settings for the Assistant in the
preferences or anywhere else. I can't even find a pattern to the
files that it now decides to show.
Anyone experience this?
