Using Xcode 4 and 3.x on same partition?

  • Subject: Using Xcode 4 and 3.x on same partition?

We'd like to move to Xcode 4, but still need to support PowerPC development for the time being, so we still need Xcode 3.2.x for that. I saw in the Xcode 4 release notes that there's a section on installing Xcode 4 and 3.2.x simultaneously, but I just want to verify - is this really a supported configuration? I'm asking because I remember that having different 3.x versions on the same partition wasn't really supported, while having 2.5 and 3.x *was* fully supported.

Does the old 2.5/3.x method of switching the system tools via "xcode-select" work too?

Basically I want to make sure that if I install Xcode 4 on my partition where I already have Xcode 3.2.x installed, that I can continue to use Xcode 3.2.x unaltered (including the command line tools like xcodebuild) if I choose.

Thanks,
Jim
