Dave, you are aware that you CAN open as many windows as you wish with Xc4, yes?

Alex

Yes, I played with the beta release about a month ago but I removed it, I will download current version on another machine when I get time.

I prefer to have a narrow project window the height of the screen and as wide as it needs to show file name line in a list. I position this window in known position, on my system that's on the left of the far left monitor. If I double-click a file I want it to open at a particular place on a particular monitor. What I don't want is for the project window to be obscured or have to move it. I can the double-click another file and have it open without having to waste time trying to find the Project list.

As I remember in XCode 4 as soon as you click on a file it's contents are displayed in the center pane. I played around with the settings a bit and managed to do away with as many panes and useless information as possible, but even so the window was still big (even when reduced to its smallest size), so that when the source file opens and it overlaps the Project window, you then have to find it again, and, as soon as you select it, the source file is obscured. And you then have to find that window again. It's a much slower operation with lots of moving/resizing of windows rather than a natural flow.

Cheers
Dave
