* in short: for now we also have decide that jump into XCODE 4 is good only
For iOS developers, but we are a Valentina DB team,
We develop in C++ ...
* and I am not happy that XCODE4 have only 10.6 support.
and no PowerPC.
Does Apple says that if we go to modern cool Xcode4,
Then we must drop support of all PowerPC macs,
And drop support of MAC OS 10.4 and 10.5 ?
This is now official line of Apple ?
For us this 2 points are the main which will prevent to use Xcode 4 yet 6-12
months at least ...
=======================
All rest complains about changes in XCODE 4,
Well I think its just time to learn all this "revolution" changes
And become used to them ..
I can assume they really are cool and good ...
And some people say that like X4
But I have see list of dropped features, and some items looks strange.
* no way to complex single file.
wow. This for 10-15 years feature of CodeWarrior and than Xcode.
Visual many years did not have it and was blamed.
Now Visual have it, but Xcode tema have decide go down ... Sense?
* no way pre-process file
all same - for years was feature in CW and X4.
One per month I have used it as C++ developer. And say thanks ...
Visual do not have this up to now...
Visual allow it in hard way ... Set prefs for file, get precompiled
in some hard to find folder ...
And Xcode team have drop this ... Sense ?
* and IB plugins ... I already have write in separate letter.
I only can hope, that XCODE team did huge internal re-design of xcode,
So this features was not droped, but not copied into new branch.
And I think we all hope that many of these features will be added back in
the nearest weeks to make xcode really superior IDE.
Up to know, I can say, that from 10 our developers only me use each day
xcode. All rest prefer visual or NetBeans. They really DO NOT want stick to
XCODE, because:
* Visual + Visual assist do really great job in C++ auto-completion
* Visual show nice tooltips about symbols and you should not jump at all to
headers
* Visual have better debugger for C++
* Netbeans also do something better ... Not remember now what ...
I personally was in big hope that Xcode 4 will make then all change mind ...
But ... Now I self not going jump to Xcode 4 nearest months ...
I will wait
