Totally agree on this one! In Xcode 3.x all the popups and tooltips would really get in the way of programming, making for an exasperating experience. The error messages wouldn't go away when you resumed editing, clogging your view, you had to be careful where you park the cursor or something else would pop up at you, heck just clicking near the gutter would take you to who-knows-where land. I would love to be able to turn all that automatic stuff OFF -- especially the "nagware" while I'm programming (i.e., thinking deeply), and then let it scream away at me only when *I* deem ready to compile.

I think what's not being taken into account here is that programming is a creative art form like working/sculpting clay, you refine and rework things at your whim, little by little, you don't need a critic sitting there nagging you at every moment that this or that doesn't look right -- I'm not done with it for crying out loud! Please wait until I ask for that opinion before you take me out of my creative thought loop.
