Right. To me option-command-double click is more useful than the quick
help or mini help.
The explanation on mini help usually doesn't help at all. In
Objective-C, it has named parameters. So, for the information in mini
help, we already know what we need to have by using code sense.
I think the idea presented with Xcode 4, was either :
- bring mini help first, and you can click links there as Reference and
Related Documents or the half-open book icon on the right-top of the
mini help
- control-option-command-/ for the selected text brings the whole
document. ( However it is to pressing 4 keys on a keyboard. Why doesn't
Xcode 4 allow mouse clicking? You can't even set any combination of
those keys and clicking or double-clicking in Xcode 4 keyboard shortcut
preference. )
So, you need to go either 2 step approach ( the 1st one above ) or press
all meta keys + /. (Glad that we human beings have 5 fingers on one hand
each. )
What I don't like also is, as many people complaint already, the single
iTunes window.
I like the compact window setting of Xcode 3.x, because you can resize
document window and others to be able to see almost everything at
once. With Xcode 4, I started to need a bigger screen or dual screen. (
At home, I have an old PPC iMac 17" and 15" CRT screen. But nowdays I
write codes on my 13" MacBook. At work, I use 17" MacBook Pro and
17"/24" dual LCD screens for Windows programming for a desktop Windows
machine. So, at work or at home, I can open Apple's document on other
monitors, although I don't like online version opened with a web browser. )
Although I can use other monitors, in libraries and other areas where I
take only my 13" MacBooks ( I don't consider 17" MacBook Pro "portable".
It's just "movable". ) With Xcode 3.x, 13" MacBooks are very useable
but, with Xcode 4, no. I waste most of time for bringing document window
and code window back and forth.
