It means: older than what was released yesterday.

For better or worse, Apple drops support for old things quickly.  ex:
iOS 4.3 drops iPhone3 support.  For you, 10.6 is current, but from
Apple's perspective it's already the "previous release".  10.5 is
ancient history.
