Okay, so I've just reinstalled Xcode 3.0 (on a different path), and when I try to compile the project, I get the message:
"error: There is no SDK with the name or path 'iphoneos2.1"
I have retried after changing the build SDL at the build settings to "latest iPhone OS", but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea?
I think at this rate shelling out money for a new mac is looking like the way to go though..
Cheers

I went to
developer.apple.com and couldn't see links to downloading xcode 3. Is there an official site for it somewhere still?
