I had to think a while before I decided I agree. Just barely. It's the best because it packs new awesome compilers and enough useful features to deserve that recognition. Despite its poor design.

Stop there. If you use the "design" verb, then I can't agree anymore. I can't call a good design a design that requires a screen the size of a football field and actively works to make your life as miserable as possible when you want to adopt a multi-window development style.

I still hope that the very real Xcode 4 performance and bug issues can be solved over time (though I can't perceive much positive signaling from Apple on that respect). Regarding its workflow design tough, I have basically abandoned all hopes. Apple clearly looks the other way when these issues are mentioned.
