Thanks, Joar; that does clarify.
I guess I think these should be exactly the same thing: if I select a view in the IB outline view it certainly *appears* to be selected in the canvas, and that is *why* I'm selecting it in the IB outline view. If I could easily select the view in the canvas, I would have done that! :)
This also raises another issue that has bothered me since day 1. When I switch into the nib editor, both a view in the IB outline view and the same view in the canvas are clearly selected, but the pane at the right says No Selection. Thus I'm always forced to click twice. It adds up (to madness).
I guess my question is, doesn't Apple eat this dog food? If so, why doesn't anyone at *Apple* file bugs on this stuff? Don't they care? I'm sorry to revolt in my mild way, but in truth I'm heartily sick of being told to file bugs that just go into the bitbucket. Have you any idea how long my list of open or archived but unfixed bugs is at the bugbase? (Hmm, actually, you probably could find that out, so perhaps I should have put that another way.)
