Have you any idea how long my list of open or archived but unfixed bugs is at the bugbase? (Hmm, actually, you probably could find that out, so perhaps I should have put that another way.)
Matt,
We don't necessarily ask you to file bug reports because we suspect that this is the first time we hear about this issue, or because we don't understand why you'd want to see something changed / improved / fixed. We ask you to file bug reports so that we can gauge the interest in the issue at hand. I'm not sure why you would get the impression that we don't use our own tools (of course we do), or that we don't file bug reports ourselves (of course we do). Very likely would this bug report end up being a dupe, and you should consider that a good thing because it means that there are other users who feel the same way.
Your bug reports never simply "go into the bitbucket", but neither should anyone assume that there's any guarantee that a filed bug will ever be fixed - We have to juggle a lot of competing requests and priorities, and as you well know, being able to say "no" can be just as important as saying "yes". If you have suggestions for improvements to our bug reporting process, that's another great thing to be filing bug reports about!
Best,
Joar
