They seem to be doing different things based on your browser and OS version. From a 10.5 machine, clicking the 4.2 for Lion link takes me to a Snow Leopard download, but at least I can get the dmg. From a 10.7 machine, I can't seem to get a dmg at all, it just wants me to use the App Store. (This is from the Mac dev page, I can't test the iOS page since I can't agree to their terms.)
Are you actually able to get the dmg for 4.2 for Lion?
