Git is installed by Xcode 4, as Fritz said. But even if it were not, neither Fink nor MacPorts is how I'd install it. Use the code.google.com installer by Tim Harper.

Now, there's an interesting problem in connection with this. Xcode seems to be hard coded to use the git that it installs in /usr/bin. Meanwhile, Tim Harper's git is installed in /usr/local/git/bin. I have not figured out how to get Xcode to use the latter. This is one of many reasons why I use the command line and ignore Xcode's version control interface. m.
