They are if you want them to be.

The real trouble is that when you signed up with your developer account, Apple ***did not tell*** you that you were creating an Apple ID. (Perhaps they themselves didn't realize this at the time.) But you were.

So the result is that if (say) your developer username is "mattn" (just as a hypothetical example), and if (still totally hypothetical) your iTunes Store username is "email@hidden", those are *both* Apple IDs.

And *if* (bear with me here) you told the developer system that your email address was email@hidden, your other Apple ID, email@hidden, now **cannot** use email@hidden as its email address, even though it *is* email@hidden and even though that *is* your email address, because (get this) for some unknown reason, two different Apple IDs cannot use the same email address!

Moreover, you cannot then magically fold the two Apple IDs together. You're stuck. You cannot change your own Apple ID's email address to your own actual email address.

The only solution I've found is to make a second email address that forwards. But of course not everyone is lucky enough to be able to do that.

It's really quite nutty... m.
