I am getting ever more confused by Xcode updates. I have Xcode 4.0.2 on Snow Leopard. First I did not see the latest update of Xcode 4.x for Snow Leopard anywhere, in particular not in App Store. Even though I was told on this list it exists. But now App Store does add a line saying that there is an update for Xcode for Snow Leopard. And it includes an "Update" button. However, when I try to see the full listing, I get a sheet saying something like "Your request cannot be completed" or something (it's not in English). When I hit the Update button, I get another sheet saying that it cannot update previous installers, and I have to delete "Install Xcode". What's all this about? Can I update, or can I /not/ update? Why this confusing and inconsistent messaging? And can I actually see information about what this update is about (e.g. what version of Xcode)? And perhaps whether it's payed or free? Anything? Wouldn't I lose update ability when I delete "Install Xcode"?
Can Apple please make some sensible update policy for Xcode, and actually tell all of us (beforehand) what those conditions are, so I also know what I am paying for, and what I can expect? Actually, can Apple actually give me all the information I need to make decision? Can Apple give information on how to update? |
