Curious... what are the permissions?   Mine are root:wheel, mode 644.  I'd certainly hope that Xcode couldn't modify the files as long as I'm not running as root.  Let's see...

Yep.. If I try to modify the file I get a sheet telling me that the file is locked for editing and giving me a choice to unlock.
