And for a related case, I use XCode 3, which I like very much, as an editor for Visual Studio (which is working in a Parallels partition). Because I don't like working in the Visual Studio editor. Which editor, however, sort of resembles that in XCode 4 in some ways. I did a little work in XCode 4 but haven't had the patience yet to go back and figure it out. Never had to figure out XCode 3.

Dear Apple: When I hear complaints from my customers about something I thought was pretty neat, my first reaction is to defend the design. But really, if those complaints keep coming in then the design needs fixing.

Gave up on Xcode as an editor years ago, too many incompatible changes from version to version. I use it strictly as a project manager and occasionally as a debugger. All editing is done in TextMate (and now TextMate2). Couldn't be happier!
