Hi,
I'm trying to profile a C++ command line Mac application with Instruments 4.2.
I can't get the Event Profiler and Counters instruments to work.
The Event Profiler info panel won't let me select an event name. The menu only contains "No Value".
Trying to record with the Event Profiler instrument failes with "Event Profiler - Recording Canceled: No PMI event selected". But I can't select any events!
Clicking the + button on the Counters info panel simply does nothing; the list stays empty.
I've tried using the Counters/Event Profiler template document, as well as creating a new blank document and adding the Counters/Event Profiler instruments from the library. Neither worked.
One oddity I noticed: The Manage PM Events window Device popup shows "Unknown Processor".
Other instruments such as Time Profiler and Allocations work fine.
I can't see any obvious messages in the Console relating to Instruments or profiling.
I'm running on a 13-inch Mid 2011 MacBook Air, and I installed Xcode from the AppStore.
Regards,
Adam
