"enable additional vector instructions" docs?

Hi all,

I was cleaning through some build settings and noticed a few are now shown in the 'user defined' section, namely:

GCC_ENABLE_SSE3_EXTENSIONS
GCC_ENABLE_SUPPLEMENTAL_SSE3_INSTRUCTIONS

looks like the replacement is:

CLANG_X86_VECTOR_INSTRUCTIONS

My question is: what does the default of "platform default" mean? Specifically, does it depend on deployment target?

I'd like to use the highest setting I can. ex: perhaps all Macs supported by OS 10.x also support SSSE3 and better. Perhaps all Macs supported by OS 10.y also support SSE4.1 and better. Aside: anyone know of such a table?

Thanks,
