I have a dual-monitor setup that I use for my day-to-day work programming games. The single-window metaphor in Xcode is singularly annoying for this task. Consider:
My main window has the Xcode 4 "all-in-one" window, which I can tolerate when I'm not debugging. When I am debugging, I want the debugger console output on my second window (sans toolbar and project tree panes), as I need to see the game window on my main display.
I can actually split the debugger output into a second window in Xcode 4 and put it on my second monitor, but that causes Xcode deep confusion. If I quit and restart Xcode 4, it will open that second debugger console window (again sans toolbar or any other widgets) on my main display, and *not* open my actual main window that was on the main monitor, so I'm constantly having to manipulate window state each time I launch Xcode 4.
Worse, sometimes Xcode wants to try and open source windows in that second "debugger console output" window, and they stay hidden where I can't see them. Only after watching nothing happen do I guess at what Xcode 4 has done.
I'm glad that Xcode 4 -- unlike the developer previews -- allows us to open more than 1 window, but clearly this has been not well-tested.
