Maybe I missed something here, but isn't Xcode different from the rest of Lion in that you have to explicitly save a file after you have edited it ? If you are using the Xcode editor, files are not auto-saved.

I never expected them to be autosaved.  Apparently Xcode under SnowLeopard has an autosave preference, but the control is missing from preferences under Lion.

This is the dialog I was presented with:

Ok, I've never seen that dialog.
