(1) The console pane isn’t new; it’s been present since Xcode 1.0 if you used the all-in-one UI.

(2) I’ve never had a problem with its size; you do know that you can drag the splitter upwards to make it bigger?

(3) I can vouch that nearly every developer at Apple uses Xcode (or did, up to the time I left in 2007). In fact if they’re in the OS X or iOS teams they spend a lot of time “eating their own dog food” with really flaky development builds of Xcode that outside developers never see.
