Thanks for the info.
enhancement requests on (and will probably be closed as duplicates), but those flaws are a far cry from "utterly broken" and the instructions for adding Code Snippets can be found in the documentation
Well, when I press Edit and the editor comes up and you can't edit anything with it, is that not broken?
If "broken" means the opposite of "useable", then no.
Also, I didn't look at the documentation for adding snippets, because that's not what I wanted to do. And this is a GUI, with an Edit button plainly visible and enabled.
So you had a problem with snippets and you decided you didn't want to read the whole documentation for snippets. Is that the best of your problem solving abilities?
The documentation also fails to mention what will happen if you create a code snippet that's identical to one already in the canned collection.
It also fails to mention many things.
The obvious thing to do is let the user edit the canned snippets, and seamlessly save the edited version, overriding the default one.
That's not obvious to me. At all. In fact, I would disagree with you.
Why does this even require user intervention?
Which user intervention? The one that lets you accomplish what you want? Or the one that you wish would let you accomplish what you want?
And lots of settings are user-specific, so I don't see why that's a challenge either.
That's a strawman.
Seriously, that is a feature that works. Sure it has minor bugs in button labeling and such. By focusing on something that works, you dilute the more pressing needs that Xcode has.
