Just running some tests tonight on a quad 2.66 GHz i5 with 16 GB of 1067 MHz RAM.

Created a RAM disk for Xcode
Created another for the User directory
Created a new user and moved the user folder to the second RAM disk.

Distributed builds are off.

Xcode and the user folder are both on RAM disks.

I've tested building two of our projects on the iPhone and iPad and from a clean build, I've got sub two second build times from pressing command R to having the simulator launch and the program start.

Just testing out what the benefits might be of having small drives (10 GB or <) of SSD level speed.

If anyone's got a monster project that doesn't need any special setup requirements, I'd be happy to see how fast this setup will be able to build it.
