In my case, each time I reopen an existing project, it also reverts to iOS device or any device that appears at the top of the list, all of this since updating to 4.5.2.

FWIW I updated to Xcode 4.5.2 (build 4G2008a) and did not experience "every project reverts to "iOS Device" destination when reopening an existing project, or when creating a new project.
Additional info:
1) Xcode installed in /Application
2) No other Xcode installs in same HDD partition.
3) Xcode 4.5.2 was updated using MAS.
