Thank you, Ken.

So it looks like we’ve got "Cocoa Events” from Instruments’ Library as kind of a crude, zero-configuration marking tool, and DTPerformanceSession, DTSignalFlag for precise markers.  There seem to be some tricks to making them behave as expected, but I shall work through them.
