I use another tool to handle SVN entirely. Versions from Versionsapp.com has the nice functionality of showing the number of files on your local and on the server that are not matching and where the files are (server/local).
It might be really stupid to use another tool with Xcode, but I've had good experiences with Versions for over 5 years and it also makes a great GUI for using SVN for managing our graphic assets and data for projects.
