I can’t answer at that level, but for Info.plist Preprocessing in particular, they definitely don’t *work* reliably.

But there are indications that Apple may fix this if they get enough reproducible cases.  Please file a report at http://bugreport.apple.com and if possible include some version of your project with steps to reproduce.
