That sounds right. (Except that it was the plugins that were sad, not their demise. Unfortunately, this was a highly desirable piece of technology that had no truly feasible implementation in IB/Xcode, especially when considered across *versions* of IB.) I had the feeling it required an IB plugin to make it all work, but don't entirely remember.
"By exposing the bindings that an object supports and creating an Interface Builder palette, you can make instances of your own classes bindable in Interface Builder.” That certainly seems to be about IB plugins. (The document was last updated in 2011.)
