This is how I worked-around the geometry.

Open Window get file list on left, move this window to the right. Open another window, get file list of left and utilites pane on right. Move then window to the left of the first window. Now the two panes are much closer together! Hey, I’ve just acheived the impossible, my controls are next to each other! I might be on to something with this idea of a Winodw, seems like a really neat invention!
