I know that is the preferred channel, but I don't have enough time to spend on documenting and properly reporting glaring usability issues like this.
I've been on the phone with folks from Apple carefully explaining the nature of the issue.
I can't spend billable hours or precious free time reporting issues that - according to my bug history - will never get addressed.
Honestly, if there is a push from management and higher ups to remove valuable context from UI controls, nothing I'm going to say or report matters.
Case in point being the progression in removing UI button backgrounds and separators in Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks.
I've reported the problem with removing button backgrounds and treatments in the UI several times before before (2 years ago) and it's been ignored.
In fact the new UI push is all about removing context from buttons.
Honestly, it's terrible, it's been reported and rereported and no one cares.
Someone else is going to have to fight the battle in that one.
Unless Ive and Christie revert their push across the entire Mac application line for clarity, it's not going to change. Honestly, you'd think that professional UI designers - let alone the VPs of the division - would know better.
Sorry, but it gets frustrating hearing this after you've been reporting these exact issues for 3 years - and only seeing them get worse.
