It works for me: Xcode 5.1.1 5B1008 on OS X v10.9.2 13C1021. I pasted about 10,000 lines of code into the replacement string text field. Typing either ⌘A or choosing Edit > Select All followed by ⌫ emptied out the field, showing the ‘Replacement String’ placeholder.
