It's more about seeing "build messages," I'm using a custom build system and I want to see the output, then get back to work. 

The named-tab approach is "good enough" I guess, since it at least gives me a tab to refer to without messing up my other tabs' navigation stack.

Wait, I’m a bit confused. If you don’t want to see the issue navigator at the end of a successful build, then why not just use the behavior that displays it only if the build fails?

The only scenario I think that this doesn’t cover is if you wanted to see warnings during a build, but not have the issue navigator persist afterwards unless there were actually errors. Can’t you just train yourself not to care about the warnings and never show them?? ;)
