OK. I got the same error some time ago when I upgraded to a new version of Xcode, but in my case what happened was the nibs got defaulted to "Builds for" the current platform (or the SDK, don't remember for sure) even though the deployment target was an old platform. So I had to go through and change nearly all of them--to "Project Deployment Target".
