Is there any other way to mark events in iOS code to help when using Instruments?

+1. I was just about to ask about this myself.

If calling into DTPerformanceSession won’t work, maybe one could try the opposite approach of creating a dtrace probe that will detect custom functions in the app code and record when they’re called? Unfortunately I have no idea how to go about doing that.
