My OS X 10.10.5 system just automatically downloaded and installed Xcode 7.0.1 (which blew away my

OK, now I have more evidence I didn't go insane.
My XCode 6.4 installation on 10.10.4 got stomped on on 9/20, a
Sunday, by XCode 7.0 being silently installed.
I found evidence in /Library/Receipts, and I sure as hell didn't
click any buttons authorizing the procedure.
I am EXTREMELY PARANOID about changes to my toolchain because of
all the vendor and OS interdependencies we have (and because
I've been on the Apple Dev crazy train for > 25 years). Intel
Compilers, Qt installations... all have a tendency to go from
subtly wrong, to completely BATSH%T when something changes. If I
do an update, I always do a full system backup before hand, and
have had to rollback on numerous occasions.
This time, I got forced into using the iOS9 SDK, which cost me
about a day in QA. Other updates in the past have not been as kind.
A) Has anyone else seen this happen to their systems? If so, WTF
Apple? Why do other user app updates (Yes, I know about
Gatekeeper and XProtect) wait for permission from the user, but
XCode now gets a "Go ahead, screw up my livelihood" pass?
B) Is there anything I can do to turn off this silent update behavior?
Thanks
Jeff
