I had trouble with it once - but when I removed Xcode entirely then the AppStore forgot about it and all was fine. Especially if you’re loading up betas or want to have more than one copy of Xcode at the same time (which I usually do, I have a recent beta, the latest production or RC and the last version from last year, ie Xcode 6.x in this case). That gives me the bleeding edge, a bit of stability and a way to go backwards if I have issues with old projects in the new tools until I get them sorted.
For that you just can’t use the appstore.
