Xcode Interface Builder Issues

  • Subject: Xcode Interface Builder Issues

There are a couple headaches with the new version and I am hoping someone can shed light on them:

1. Canvas position of UI elements. They are often all over the place, and sometimes offscreen, but I am unable to orient them to any fixed point. E.g., if I try to drag to the left it seems to simply infinitely grow the canvas size. All I want is a fixed orientation for my UI elements on the canvas. Do I hope in vain?

2. It seems now that resizing an element on the canvas will resize its subviews (unless that option is unchecked). This is extremely annoying as more often than not I am resizing to make room for more elements, not to adjust the size of existing elements. You used to have to hold the command key to get this behavior, and regretfully the reverse isn’t true (can’t hold down command to *not* resize) Any way to get the old behaviopr without constantly unchecking and rechecking the resize subviews option? Which, by the way, is likely to introduce bugs. Note that none of the views in question use constraints.

TIA,
