Can't debug app as root

  • Subject: Can't debug app as root

I’ve recently upgraded from Xcode 7.3.x to Xcode 8.1. I have a LaunchDaemon that I need to run as root; under Xcode 7.3.x using the “debug as root” setting, debugging this app worked just fine.

Since upgrading to Xcode 8.1 (and from OS X 10.11 to macOS 10.12) I can no longer debug my app. When I launch it I am prompted for credentials, but then the launch fails with the error

Problems with launching via XPC. XPC error : Connection invalid

My app does not implement any XPC services. I haven’t been able to find any pointers online for this error, particularly when it is encountered outside of development of apps that directly use XPC. Does anyone have some clue they could lend as to the cause of this issue?

   thanks - dmt
