1) It's not Quartz Extreme which is used AFAIK, but OpenGL.
I'm fairly sure it's Quartz Extreme. My PowerBook G3 Firewire supports
OpenGL, yet there is not fade transition when pictures change on the
desktop. I did install PCI-Extreme on my PowerMac B&W with a G4 upgrade and
right after I installed it, the fade transition was now working. So, I would
think it uses Quartz Extreme...
