It [the dmg's link] loads in the browser, as one user put it, as "code
junk" (it tries to load instead of download, not pretty at all.) The
only way around the issue to use the link's contextual menu item to
"Save As...", which works, but is an unnecessary requirement to put on
users based on their browser choice. (I need to get around to changing
this myself *kicks self into gear*)

Does it just not auto-open, or does it not work at all?
