Not at all, it's just figuring out the mechanics for getting key-down as well as insert-text events. I need to experiment with it tomorrow but I think your technique could be just what I need. It's a little more convoluted than I expected from Cocoa though, frankly. The Carbon Events way is a little simpler, I think.
