Are you actually looking for the formula to implement in your own
software or simply a way of doing the conversion? If it's the latter,
then the manufacturers usually have freeware to do it for you, e.g. GMG
MeasureTool. Alternatively if you don't mind some coding the result can
be retrieved directly from the instrument.
If it's the former, then I don't have the solution, just some
suggestions. My understanding is that the spectral measurements are
required to do the conversion and that the equations will involve the
weighting functions for the filters. I'm not sure if the functions would
be treated as competitive information by the manufacturers or whether
they are stated in the relevant standards. I would start a search for
the conversion formulas in Bern's Principals of Color Technology, Hunt's
Measuring Colour and Berger-Schunn's Practical Color Measurement.
